Bored in Corona crisis? Here's the list of Corona Crisis Crops that you can grow for fun

Hello, friends. I hope all of you are safe and doing well amid the Corona Crisis. Please practice Social Distancing. Please pray for the safety of others. And stay home, stay safe and stay green :)

I am well aware that practicing social distancing and being confined within the safety of the house can take a toll on emotional health. So why waste your precious moments worrying about the future? Why not cultivate hope instead? Instead of feeling nostalgic about being outdoorsy, why not bring the outdoors inside? So, here's the list of crisis crops that you can grow now.

This list is prepared while keeping in mind a general idea of limited space, current environmental conditions, and the fastest harvest time. So, even if you are confined in a small space within four walls, you can still grow these #lockdown lifesavers in the containers. They grow well in containers and are nutrient dense. In today's post, we will cover only those veggies that can grow within a short span and are easy to grow even for beginners.

1] Green Onions: These are a staple in almost every kitchen around the world. You can grow green onions in water or soil whatever suits you or whichever is available. They take around 1-2 months to develop, but you can keep harvesting the green part as per your requirement. Also, you need not purchase any seeds from the store, you can regrow them easily from the store-bought green onions.

2] Micro-greens: These tender beauties are powered packed with proteins plus other essential nutrients and take around 5-10 days to grow (depending on your geographical region). Worried that you don't have space or a backyard for growing the magical micro greens? Don't worry, you can just grow micro greens on your windowsill or kitchen counter.

3] Spinach: If you have stored spinach seeds, then now is the right time to use them. It takes about 50-60 days for spinach to reach from the seed stage to your dining table. Meanwhile, once their true leaves are well developed, you can keep harvesting the spinach leaves as per your requirements.

4] Tomatoes: Those red-red round tomatoes can prove to be a lifesaver. Tomatoes can not only blend in almost every recipe but also are one of the easiest vegetables to grow. Whether you are craving for hot tomato soup or want to eat salad, tomatoes are your go-to food. If you have some expertise in gardening, you can propagate them faster from cutting and get a jumpstart.

5] Potatoes: Stale potato lying useless in the fridge? Not sure what to do with it? Just plant 'em. Potatoes grow very fast and can be harvested in about 3 months. They are super easy to grow and maintain. Just select the potato which has developed "eyes" and plant them in loose soil. Make sure the 'eye' portion is upward. Once you get a hang of it, you can get a bumper harvest.

9] Squash: If you live in an area where mercury has risen, then you can add squash seeds directly into your garden. Usually, they can be harvested in around 40-50 days, depending on your growing conditions. Squash can get pretty huge and can be used in a wide range of preparations. You can add them into the pasta or soups or you could simply enjoy the roasted squash seeds.

10] Herbs: Apart from providing a burst of flavors in the food, herbs are also known to possess medicinal values. This can also help boost your immune system. Herbs such as Basil, Tulsi, Mint, Oregano are extremely easy to grow and can also be propagated through cuttings. This way you can create an uninterrupted supply of herbs from store-bought herbs. Even if you are short of soil or growing space, just place a few cuttings in a glass of water and keep them by the windowsill.
